Nelson Ferreira

Chief Executive Officer

Nelson Ferreira’s leadership experience within the construction and renewable energy industries since 1988. His technical expertise and valuable insights support his hands-on approach to owning and managing Vanguard Energy Partners and all of its affiliate firms. An active member of numerous industry organizations, Mr. Ferreira believes in fostering opportunities for each employee’s personal and professional development. Frequently recognized for outstanding entrepreneurial achievements, Mr. Ferreira continues to maintain a vision of growth and expansion for his firms.

Benjamin Scott, PE


Benjamin Scott graduated from Rutgers University with a Civil Engineering degree in 1997 and an MBA in 2013. He served in the US Marine Corps Reserve from 1998-2006 and worked in the civil construction and engineering fields since 1997. A professional Engineer in NJ and PA, he began design-build division for heavy/highway construction and utility projects. He became the president of Vanguard in 2017.

Matthew Vuolo

VP, Operations

Matthew Vuolo is a dynamic leader with a diverse background in Onsite Power Generation and Renewable Energy Systems. His experience in construction and electrical fields goes back to the early ’90s and includes extensive work in the Cogeneration market. Previously he worked with Micro-Turbine and Battery Energy Storage technologies that are now part of VEP’s business model and ongoing success. The emerging business sector known as “Micro-Grids”, include C&I solar and the integration of these other technologies in which Mr. Vuolo is adding high value with both knowledge and expertise. He is a licensed NJ Electrician and has an NJ Master HVACr license. Mr. Vuolo joined Vanguard in 2017.

Shannon Donnelly

Director, Regulatory Affairs

Shannon Donnelly began her career in the solar industry in 2006. Presently, she oversees engineering and design to ensure compliance with best industry practices, utility standards, and incentive program rules. Additionally, she and her team manage the regulatory process, from project inception to substantial completion and beyond, to maximize each project’s full incentive potential. To stay abreast of current market trends and regulatory changes, she actively participates in stakeholder and regulatory proceedings throughout the Northeast. Shannon joined Vanguard in 2011.

Jennifer Duke

Customer Success Manager

Jennifer Duke manages our Operations & Maintenance Division with a focus on client retention and revenue generation. She is skilled in building and cultivating solid client relationships and has years of experience monitoring and maintaining renewable energy systems. Jennifer began working in the renewable energy industry in 2008 and joined Vanguard in 2018.

Alex Rivera

Business Development Manager

Alex Rivera leads Vanguard Energy Partners’ origination efforts for the Distributed Generation division supporting commercial and industrial clients. Alex efficiently assesses the client’s energy needs and helps companies fulfill their sustainability efforts. Alex’s focus during his renewable energy career has included small privately-owned companies to large multinational corporations in developing sound solar strategies that meet their financial, regulatory and technical requirements. He has been with Vanguard since its inception in 2008.

Peter Osowski

Business Development Manager

Peter Osowski is responsible for leading technical business development initiatives and managing sales. He is a solar expert with over three decades of experience in construction, building envelope insulation, waterproofing, roofing design and installation preceded by nine years with Eastman Kodak as a Field Service Engineer. His extensive technical and photovoltaic knowledge is the driving force behind a large number of Vanguard’s design-build projects. Peter began his solar career when he opened NJ Solar Solutions in 2003 with later became Vanguard in 2008.
