Igniting a Solar revolution

Vanguard Energy Partners, a national solar construction firm, has designed and installed over 55 MW of solar projects since 2003.

Hall's Warehouse

System Size:

3.163 MW

Vanguard’s Role

Project Management, Mechanical and Electrical Construction

Type of Financing

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) provided by enXco Development Corp.

Technology Used:

Roof mounted DC photovoltaic (PV) system using 971 kW of First Solar and 298 kW of Unisolar. Xantrex inverters were used.

Project Highlights

The combined installations at Hall's serve as one of the largest rooftop mounted solar installations in North America. The estimated production is approximately 1,430 MWh of energy, which is equivalent to the avoided emissions of 2,264,147 lbs. of CO₂. This is comparable to taking 188 cars off of the road, conserving 116,572 gallons of gasoline or the preservation 7.2 acres of forest annually.

Morristown Waterwaste
Treatment Plant

System Size

578 kW

Vanguard’s Role

Turn–key design, engineering and construction.

Type of Financing

System partially financed with $1,464,734 rebate from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program.

Technology Used

The 578 kW system consists of three components: a 480 kW ground mount, a 69 kW roof mount and a 30 kW canopy structure over the filtration tank. Kyocera and BP Solar modules were used.

Project Highlights

The Town of Morristown, NJ, should expect electrical output of 635,800 kWh in the first year, which is equivalent to the avoided emissions of 1,006,649 lbs. of CO₂. This is comparable to taking 81 cars off of the road, conserving 51,828 gallons of gasoline or the preservation of 3.2 acres of forest annually.

Jones Lang LaSalle

System Size

1.267 MW

Vanguard’s Role

Turn–key design, engineering, materials and construction.

Type of Financing

Private

Technology Used

DC photovoltaic (PV) roof-mounted and carport/canopy system using SolarWorld 235 and 245 watt panels, and Satcon 500 kW inverters.

Project Highlights

This solar installation is estimated to produce 1,420,173 kWh of energy in the first year, which is equivalent to avoiding 2,248,532 lbs. of CO₂. This is comparable to recycling 343 tons of waste or conserving 2,372 barrels of oil annually.

Vanguard’s Role

Turn–key design, engineering, materials and construction.

Type of Financing

Private

Technology Used

DC photovoltaic (PV)roof mounted system using Trina Solar 310 watt panels and SMA America Sunny Tripower.

Project Highlights

This solar installation is estimated 4,682,940 kilowatt-hours per year, which is equivalent to avoiding 8,677,489 lbs. of CO₂. This is comparable to 252,313 tree seedlings grown for each year.

Somerset County
Improvement Authority

System Size

8.08 MW

Vanguard’s Role

Turn–key design, materials, construction, and maintenance

Type of Financing

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)

Technology Used

Roof mount and carport photovoltaic structures, utilizing SolarWorld crystalline modules and PV Powered inverters.

Project Highlights

New Jersey's largest public solar energy system, the SCIA solar installation consists of more than 30 sites throughout Somerset County, New Jersey—including schools, libraries, public works buildings, community centers, and administrative buildings. Collectively, the systems will generate an estimated 9,744,579 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, reducing CO₂ emissions by 6,719 metric tons per year. This is comparable to taking 1,318 cars off the road per year, or conserving 753,229 gallons of gasoline annually.

Middlesex Community College

System Size

1,101.00 kW

Vanguard’s Role

Turn–key design, engineering, materials and construction.

Type of Financing

Private

Technology Used

DC photovoltaic (PV)roof mounted system using LG 235 watt modules. The system also is using PV Powered PV-260 kW, PV-100kW & PV-75kW.

Project Highlights

This solar installation is estimated to generate an average of 1,495,128 kilowatt-hours per year, which is equivalent to avoiding 2,770,472 lbs. of CO₂. The energy produced is equivalent to powering 177 homes per year & CO₂ emissions can be offset in 79 automobiles per year. The energy generated is comparable to 80,557 tree seedlings grown each year.
